NCAA: Texas Beats BC In 25 Innings
Texas walked off the field victorious after beating Boston College 3-2 in 25 innings on Saturday night in the longest game in NCAA history, according to an Associated Press report.
?Every inning, we felt like we had a chance to win it,? Texas second baseman Travis Tucker said. ?And every inning, we thought we were going to win it. It ended up happening in the 25th.?
Tucker?s RBI single with one out in the top of the inning helped Texas put an end to the game that eclipsed the previous record of 23 innings, set in 1971 when Louisiana-Lafayette defeated McNeese State.
Texas reliever Austin Wood pitched 13 innings, including 12 1-3 of no-hit ball before allowing a two-out single to Tony Sanchez in the 19th.
Sabathia Wins In Return To Cleveland
CC Sabathia didn?t allow a hit until the fifth inning, and the Yankees got homers from Jorge Posada and Nick Swisher in a 10-5 win over the Indians on Saturday night.
The lefty worked seven innings to beat his former team for the first time since signing a $161M, seven-year deal with New York in December.
Randy Johnson Wins No. 299
Randy Johnson earned his 299th victory with six very impressive innings, giving up three hits and one run in the Giants? 6-3 home win over the Braves on Wednesday night, as reported by the Associated Press.
The five-time Cy Young Award winner struck out five to run his career total to 4,843, second-most in MLB history.
Johnson likely will get his first chance to become the 24th major leaguer with 300 victories next Wednesday at Washington.
Johnson Again Denied Win No. 299
The Mariners defeated the Giants 2-1 on Friday night to deny Randy Johnson of his 299th win.
Seattle's Jose Lopez hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to complete the victory.
Johnson pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on six hits. He struck out seven batters, while walking three.
Twins Hand White Sox Historically Lopsided Loss
The Twins defeated the White Sox 20-1 on Thursday night, matching the worst loss Chicago has suffered in their history.
"I think a lot frustration came out today," said Mauer, whose Twins had lost the first six games of their road trip. "We had a rough trip. It was nice to get some runs. We kept on saying, 'Keep at it, keep at it.' "
The only other time the White Sox loss by 19 runs was in 2002, when the Angels defeated them 19-0.
"We did everything wrong we could do," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "You name it, we did it wrong."
Greinke Wins 7th Game, ERA Still Under One
Kansas City's Zack Greinke pitched seven innings on Friday night against Baltimore, improving his record to 7-1 on the season.
His ERA made a slight jump from 0.51 to 0.60 as he allowed one run in the seven innings.
Greinke hasn't allowed a homer in 88 innings dating back to last year.
Johnson Gets 298th Victory, Zimmerman's Hit Streak Reaches 29
Randy Johnson struck out nine in his 298th career victory, and Randy Winn had three hits and scored three runs in the Giants? 11-7 win over the Nationals on Monday night, according to an Associated Press report.
Ryan Zimmerman extended his hitting streak to 29 games and went 4 for 5 with two homers for the Nationals.
Jays Farm Report: Arencibia Busts Out Of Cold 2009?
J.P. Arencibia has struggled in 2009 with Triple-A Vegas, but he went 4-for-5 with a homer and a double on Sunday.
He now has an OPS of .682 with a troublesome OBP of .265, striking out 21 times to just three walks.

Greinke Suffers First Loss Of Season
The Angels defeated the Royals 1-0 on Saturday night in a pitching duel between Joe Saunders and Zack Greinke.
Both players threw complete games, with Saunders coming out on top thanks to a sacrifice fly from Chone Figgins in the third inning.
"An awesome game, just awesome," Saunders said.
Greinke is now 6-1 on the season, and his ERA rose slightly from 0.40 to 0.51.
Zito Earns First Win, Giants Drop Dodgers
Barry Zito notched his first win of the season on Friday night as the Giants gave the Dodgers a rare home loss.
San Francisco won 3-1, giving Los Angeles their second-straight home defeat after a record start and Manny Ramirez's steroid suspension.
"They have a great lineup and Manny adds that much more to it. But it's still a great lineup without him," Zito said. "That team's in first place for a reason. This is a big series for us, to come down here, make a statement and say, 'Hey, we're not going to roll over in this division."
